Far Cry 4 opens with a bombastic introduction to the main
antagonist – the charismatic dictator, Pagan Min. In the scene, he invites the
player character, Ajay Ghale to join him and “tear shit up”. It’s not really
directed at Ajay though. It’s directed at us.
There’s a part of us that likes the idea of tearing shit up –
a part of us that wants to embrace chaos. Far Cry 4 lets us embrace chaos.
Chaos like chasing a caravan on a gyrocopter, or diving off
a cliff to escape an angry Rhinoceros, or even setting a jungle on fire just
to watch the world burn.
But Far Cry invites you to do so much more. The chaos is really
just a natural extension of the freedom provided by the game. Give a digital
inch, and players will take a mile.
For the freedom it provides and the chaos it evokes, Far Cry
4 is one of the best games I played in 2014. Check out the video below, to
